Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are improved by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at one time to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling an item increases with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including by using upgrade components or by increasing an item's rarity or mark level. Additionally there are many items that can be reforged, which could boost their stats even more.
Upgradeable items are available in the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer an overall bonus.
There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be placed in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than those that are type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected stats are after the upgrade, as well as any necessary components or materials. If you don't possess enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will show as Blocked.
The amount of upgrade components required for a specific item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the level of upgrade and rarity, but can be reduced using many different methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.
The majority of weapons can be upgraded by adding a prefix, such as a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be upgraded with the suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item to add an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any kinds of mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, which makes them more effective in conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph has a set of values that it could improve a stat by in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This range is not the actual amount by which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the item you are enchanting it to.
The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can remove any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be retrieved with the glyph shards.
When you remove an item after adding a glyph, the shards that are part of that glyph will disappear. You can also put a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. For instance the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly instead of all at once. This can be helpful for players who are taking many hits from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens permit players to change the affixes of their equipment and weapons, and can be found in various ways like mistery boxes, as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives players a new random affix, which is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for upgrade options, but they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, therefore higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to reroll tokens, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
Rerolling is a fantastic option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl is reduced by the number rerolls it took to get it to the final level. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, because they are the only options for raising ilvl.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it with money or a food item which would allow them to change their build without spending too much time and energy. However, paid rerolls are not something that the developers would like to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning add an ability to change races in the future.
Leveling
There are a number of ways to level up an upgrade to an item. upgrade item is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the value of upgrading a given stat. The alternative is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases the chance of a better roll will be derived from glyphs, however there are also possibilities for greater or special rolls. In addition, the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the type of item and if you upgrade a unique or rare item to an extraordinary type it will have a chance to gain a higher iLevel.
Upgrading items can be costly especially if you're upgrading a piece of equipment from the standard to legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels. Certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to get to the next level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will be at the highest level on its upgrade track, and will unlock a bonus effect. This will increase the item's upgrade value. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.
The iLevel will also change according to the upgrade path and base level. For instance an item that has been upgraded from a unique or rare to an exceptional item will have a chance to get the enhanced defense of the new base type of item.
